WINNER: “AFTER-SUPPER CUP” BY LOREN GREENE | KIT SORA FLASH FICTION PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

Updated: Mar 10, 2021

After much deliberation, Engen Books is proud to announce the winner of the January 2021 Kit Sora Flash Fiction Photography Contest: Loren Greene with the story, After Supper Cup!

Loren Greene grew up in St. John's, Newfoundland, and currently resides in Toronto. She developed an affinity for everything Japanese at a young age, an interest that eventually took her halfway around the world to Osaka, after earning a degree in English Literature from Memorial University.

She loves to create stories that draw inspiration from her travels around the world and bridge the cultural gap. Her first novel, Meet You By Hachiko, was published by HachiPress in 2020.

We had two judges for this contest:

Kit Sora Photography. Kit Sora is an artist and photographer from St. Johns, Newfoundland. Her photography draws inspiration from fantasy, dystopia, and thrillers to create evocative imagery that startles, inspires, and excites. Kit signed with Engen Books in 2018 as head photographer, producing the thrilling image for Chillers from the Rock and re-imagining the covers to the entire Black Womb series into the Coral Beach Casefiles series. Drew Power is a currently seated member of the Sci-Fi on the Rock committee. He was recently featured as the model on the cover of the bestselling collection Chillers from the Rock.

Yasmine Dalloul. Dalloul is an astonishing fresh talent from Kuwait City, and currently residing in Montreal. Her previous work includes articles such as "Za'atar Grows in Palestine" in A Matter of Taste. She also manages the blog 'The Calico Comment.' In 2021 she will be featured in Mythology from the Rock, which will be her first fiction credit, with her poem 'Old Wives.'

Runners up include The Special Ingredient by Micheal Evans, and Snowman Soup by Teresita Dziadura.

The Flash Fiction Photography Contest is sponsored in part by FictionFirst Used Books, which specializes in previously enjoyed Sci-fi & Fantasy Novels, Roleplaying Manuals and Graphic Novels. It is run out of the Annapolis Valley and open by appointment only. Their inventory is currently over 5000 titled strong and they ship within Canada, USA and Europe. You can find them on Facebook, here.
