Author Yasmine Dalloul to write for Mythology from the Rock!

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

Engen Books is proud and honored to announce that new author and poet Yasmine Dalloul will be among the talented authors included in 2021's Mythology from the Rock!

Dalloul is an astonishing fresh talent from Kuwait City, and currently residing in Montreal. Her previous work includes articles such as "Za'atar Grows in Palestine" in A Matter of Taste. She also manages the blog 'The Calico Comment.' Mythology from the Rock will be her first fiction credit, with her poem 'Old Wives.'

"I am exceptionally excited to see Yasmine on board, and that the editors recognized her talent," said Matthew LeDrew, founder of Engen Books. "I've been working with her through my digital classrooms for half a year now. Her fiction is vibrant, exciting, and new. She's going to light the CanLit world on fire in the next few years, and we're happy to have her on board."

When asked to say something interesting about herself, Dalloul responded: "I don't really think I'm that interesting! I mean, I'm an immigrant doing it all on her own over here without a partner or any family around me, so that's a little intense. I had just turned one when the Gulf War broke out, so that was an interesting way to start my life. I've given too many speeches at United Airlines customer service desks at various airports after cancelled flights that had resulted in applause (and once on a Greyhound bus after it broke down 200 feet away from the border) I'm vegan every Wednesday, I've met all the Trailer Park Boys but had no idea who any of them were. Oh, the very first school I went to was a Greek school (and yet, I don't speak Greek.) Take your pick!"

Dalloul joins Hannah Jenkins and AJ Ryan on the list of announced authors.

There are twenty-five authors yet to be revealed, including award-winning short fiction authors, popular novelists, and mainstays of the From the Rock series! Stay tuned to Engen Books for more revelations!
